Study on wound care using honey

A new study using honey for the treatment of wounds with honey in 10 hospitals has shown how effective honey may be. The study showed that wound size decreased with honey significantly during the study period and in relatively shorter periods of time. Most interesting is that the patients reported pain levels decreased significantly. The authors concluded the following :

“In general, our findings show honey to be an effective and feasible treatment option for professional wound care. In addition, our study showed a relationship between pain and slough/necrosis at the time of recruitment and during wound healing.”
